I have been receiving a more and more texts from folks that I really enjoy talking
to. This creates a sense of separation from what I once knew as human communication. Don't get me wrong there is a place and time for texting, but when my mom starts texting me important details and questions that would normally take a 30 second conversation to answer now takes 20 texts.

I think we text because we are just burnt out for emotion of any kind. what I mean is conversations take work. Even the best conversations I have had, have taken the same energy as the worst. Paying attention, smiling, responding, trying to look interested, all of the above in the few seconds it takes to work through some sort of process before responding then do it all over again. Hammering out a few words and hitting send? Easy as 1,2,3, semi colon and closed bracket.
